Design Review Board Meeting on September 2, 2020.


Longitude Apartments 81

A representative for Longitude 81 Apartments was requesting to change the exterior building color from the approved yellow tones to a color scheme of predominately grey. The Board explained that the Village’s requirements call for warm Earth tones or pastels, not cool colors. The applicant requested a continuation of this hearing to address a change in their proposed colors.

23421 Walden Center Drive

The applicant was requesting approval to re-paint the exterior of the building to varying shades of white and a warm grey with terracotta colored awnings.The Board voted to approve this application.

Extra Space of Coconut Point

The applicant is seeking to re-paint the self-storage building in shades of white, grey and green. The applicant stated that the new corporate color green is a lime green, which was displayed on the doors of the artist’s concept of the building. The Board pointed out that the current colors blend better with the Coconut Point signage.

No voting occurs during public information meetings.

Planning & Zoning Board on September 15, 2020.

The applicant was requesting to rezone two lots on Corkscrew Road from agriculture to Estero Planned Development to allow for a variety of commercial uses in a two-story building including 8,000 square feet of office space, 1,050 square feet of restaurant, retail or café, and a 950 square feet of courtyard seating area. Parking would be behind the building. The applicant was also requesting 8 deviations. This property is located at 21250 Happy Hollow Lane and 8910 Corkscrew Road, on the south side of Corkscrew Road and west of Via Coconut Point. The property is in the Village Center future land use category.

The Board voted to continue this project for approximately 60 days to address some concerns.

Design Review Board on September 16, 2020.

A public hearing was conducted for the Longitude 81 Apartments which was requesting to change the exterior building color from the approved yellow tones to a color scheme of predominately grey. A representative of apartments presented the Board with several different color schemes for re-painting the buildings.The Board approved the color scheme demonstrating warm grey tones with the doors reflecting the terra cotta colors on the roof.

A workshop was conducted for the Hilton Garden Inn located on the corner of Via Villagio and Sweetwater Ranch Boulevard, just east of the Estero Fire Rescue Coconut Point. The hotel will be 5 stories tall, with 115 units. The applicant has worked with the South Florida Water Management District to construct an overflow structure improving the stormwater management system so that this development will not exacerbate flooding in the neighboring Rapallo community. – No voting occurs during workshops.
